HomeStop shows live public-transport departures for the stop closest to you, in an iOS app and Home Screen widget. We designed it to work with as little of your data as possible: no account, no tracking, no advertising, and nothing about you stored on our servers.
Location
When you allow location access, your coordinates are used to find nearby stops. They are sent over an encrypted connection to our API, used to answer that one request, and immediately discarded. We never store your location, never build a history of it, and never link it to your identity.
Location is only used while you use the app or when the widget refreshes ("While Using" permission). HomeStop never requests background or always-on location access.
Transit data providers (such as TCL / Grand Lyon) never receive your location or any personal data — our servers query them about stops, not about you.
What we store
Your preferences (such as your chosen city or pinned stop) are stored only on your device, in storage shared between the app and its widget. Deleting the app deletes them.
Our servers keep standard technical logs (IP address, request time) for a short period, strictly for security and abuse prevention (rate limiting).
No accounts, no tracking
HomeStop has no user accounts and requires no sign-up. The app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics and no tracking SDKs, and we never sell or share personal data.
Waitlist (website)
If you join the waitlist on this website, we collect your first name and email address to let you know about HomeStop's availability. Emails are sent through our processor Resend. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email, or ask us to delete your data entirely.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, and erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Since the app stores nothing about you on our servers, these rights mainly concern the waitlist. To exercise them, contact us at the address below. You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in France, the CNIL).
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and its date. Significant changes will be highlighted on the website.
